This beach is just loaded with sharks!
New Smyrna Beach, Florida continues to add to its shark attack statistics. Apparently, there are over two attacks per month in the area. They aren’t usually fatal, but annoying — or frightening enough to warrant a constant scanning of the ocean around you.
26-year-old Alexander Zgura was the latest surfer to be mistaken for fish food. He was surfing on the New Smyrna Beach side of the Ponce de Leon Inlet when a six foot shark bit into his left leg. He chose to drive himself to the hospital to take care of the 12-16 cuts between his knee and ankle.
Just two days before, a 20-year-old surfer was also bitten on the foot.
